Removing eyebrow micropigmentation: how laser works and how many sessions

Is your eyebrow micropigmentation the wrong colour or shape? See how laser works on pigment, how many sessions are usually needed and aftercare.

Quick answer

Laser removal breaks the pigment down into small particles that the body clears gradually. Several sessions are usually needed, a few weeks apart. The number depends on the colour, depth and amount of pigment, and is estimated at the assessment.

Why micropigmentation is removed

Over time, some pigments change colour (turning reddish, orange or greyish) or the shape no longer suits the face. Removal can be full or partial, to lighten the area and allow a new design.

How the laser works

The laser delivers very short pulses of light absorbed by the pigment. The energy breaks up the ink particles, which are then gradually removed by the lymphatic system. The surrounding skin is preserved when settings are adjusted to the skin and pigment type.

How many sessions and how far apart

It varies a lot. Dark, superficial pigments tend to respond faster; some brown tones based on iron oxide may need more sessions. Sessions are spaced a few weeks apart so the skin can recover. At the assessment, the team gives you a realistic estimate, without promises.

Before and after care

  • Avoid sun and tanning in the area before and after sessions.
  • Do not pick scabs and keep the area clean and moisturised as advised.
  • Redness, swelling or small scabs may last a few days.

What comes next?

Once the skin has recovered, a new design can be done with permanent make-up, if that is your goal.

Frequently asked questions

Does removal erase all of the pigment?

It cannot be guaranteed. Pigment often lightens significantly, but the result depends on the ink, depth and skin response.

Does it hurt?

You feel a stinging or heat sensation. Topical anaesthetic can be used for comfort.

Will my eyebrow hair fall out?

There may be some temporary change in the hair in the area. Talk to the team about it at the assessment.

Can I do it in summer?

Yes, with strict sun protection. Sun exposure increases the risk of marks.
