Quick answer
Enzyme injections are micro-injections into areas of localised fat, such as the abdomen, flanks or inner thighs, to help improve contour. They are not a weight-loss treatment: they suit small areas in people with a stable weight, and results vary. Scientific evidence is still limited, so a medical assessment is essential.
What enzyme injections are
Solutions containing enzymes are injected with very fine needles into the fat layer of a specific area. The aim is to help reduce small fat deposits that remain despite a balanced diet and exercise.
Who they may suit
They may suit adults with a stable weight and localised fat in small areas. They are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with some conditions and allergies, or as an alternative to medically supervised weight loss when the goal is to lose weight.
Want to know if it suits you? See our Enzyme injections page or book an assessment.
What the evidence says
Studies on injectable enzymes for localised fat are still few and varied. That is why, at Mya, this treatment is only offered after an assessment, with clear expectations and often as part of a plan that includes diet, physical activity and other body care.
How the sessions work
Each session takes about 30 minutes. The number of sessions and the interval between them are set by the doctor. Afterwards there may be redness, swelling, tenderness or small bruises for a few days.
Frequently asked questions
How many centimetres will I lose?
Measurements cannot be promised. Response varies and the doctor explains what is realistic in your case.
Does it hurt?
You feel the needles and some stinging. Discomfort is usually tolerable.
Can I exercise the next day?
Usually yes, but follow the advice given at the consultation.
Does it replace liposuction?
No. They are different approaches; liposuction is surgery, which Mya does not perform.
Take the first step with an assessment
At the consultation, the doctor examines you, explains the options and tells you clearly what is and is not suitable in your case.
